Register to Become a Referee

The Celtics are hosting referee clinics on Sunday, March 1st.

New Referees, Entry Level
March 1st from 8am-12pm

Current Referees, Re-Certification
March 1st from 1pm-3pm

 

To Register

NEW Referees:  ENTRY
 clinic.
  1. Go to https://Learning.USsoccer.com/referee
  2. REMINDERif you are 18 years of age or older, you cannot register until you have submitted AND cleared a background check.
  3. If you have not set up a profile, you must click on SIGN UP, complete all information and submit.           
  4. If profile is set up, simply log in and click on Courses at top of page, then click on Available Courses
  5. Under License Pathway click on Grassroots – First-time Referees, then click on Go to Course List on the right.
  6. Under the box labeled TITLE, just type in “LaGrange) and it will pop up.
  7. Click on COURSE DETAILS to register for online requirements AND in-person course.  Must complete all on-line requirements one week prior to clinic  to be admitted to in-person course (will receive badge at course).
  8. Once registered, click on “COURSES” at top, then ‘MY COURSES”, then “GO TO CLASSROOM”  and click on the “ASSIGNMENTS” tab to complete online requirements. 

 

ALL RE-CERTIFING Referees require a TWO STEP process.   

  • STEP ONE – Register through Learning Center for on-line requirements/assignments (pay attention to #8 when you get to it – don’t skip to it). 
  • STEP TWO – Register through ISRC website for in-person course.  Cannot attend in-person course without completing all online requirements/assignments.  
  • REMINDERif you are 18 years of age or older, you cannot register until you have submitted AND cleared a background check.
  • If requirements are met one week prior to in-person course, will receive referee badge at clinic.  If not met, may attend, but will not receive badge.

To complete both Step One and Two above, you will need to:

  1. Go to https://Learning.USsoccer.com/referee
  2. If you have not set up a profile, you must click on SIGN UP, complete all information and submit then go to #4.           
  3. If profile is set up, simply log in and then,
  4. Click on Courses at top of page, then click on Available Courses
  5. Under License Pathway click on Grassroots – Recertifying Referees, then click on Go to Course List on the right.
  6. Under the box labeled TITLE, just type in the following and it will pop up:                    Grassroots Re-certification 2020 (date will show as Jan 15, 2020)
  7. Click on COURSE DETAILS to register.
  8. Once registered, click on “COURSES” at top, then ‘MY COURSES”, then “GO TO CLASSROOM”  and click on the “ASSIGNMENTS” tab to complete online requirements. 
  9. FINAL STEP for recertifying referees will be to go to the ISRC website to sign up for the required in-person course (all fees are paid through Learning Center):  http://www.illinoissoccerrefereecommittee.org/site/referee/clinics.exc?cmd=view_referee_clinics&co_id=849&item_id=86393&isApp=true

Getting Started as an AR

Fall/Spring Outdoor ARs

New referees should register for an Entry Level Clinic. Referees must re-certify each year. Existing referees should register for a Recertification Clinic. You must be 13 by March, 31, 2020 to become an AR.

After becoming a certified referee please purchase a Referee Starter Kit. Kits can be purchased online or from our local Score representative, Don Robertson. Click here to download Don's order form. Please note, that sometime after completing the course you'll receive a letter with your USSF id and a badge in the mail that will be applied to the uniform.

To AR for other clubs outside of the Celtics you'll need to join the Midwest Referee group on http://www.gameofficials.net. If you don’t already have a GameOfficials.net login, click on the green hyperlink in the upper left corner that states “New Official?” If you already have an account with another group, log in.

Grasshopper Referees

The Celtics run a Winter League at the Grasshopper in Hillside. High School Celtics players interested in becoming referees at the Grasshopper should email Elizabeth at [email protected] to get on the email distribution list. Certified referees will be paid $20 per game, referees who aren't certified will be paid $15 per game.
